Sacred Valley — Scenery |
As interesting as our scheduled stops were at Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero, the views from various scenic overlooks were worth the price of the tour by themselves. Here is our group with Maria, our guide, and a typically gorgeous scene from the road:
Of course the mountains were the main attraction...
But there was also a lot of beautiful, more pastoral scenery, too, as befits a valley that's been civilized and cultivated for so many hundreds of years... (the center picture was taken from Ollantaytambo)
Overall the mountainsides weren't particularly green, but there were some waterfalls...
We got some good views of towns as well as rural scenery, too. The stadium-like structure in the middle picture is a cock-fighting arena! (I believe it's in Urubamba.)
And, like good entrepreneurs everywhere, the vendors knew where to set up shop—at the scenic overlooks!
