Makapu'u Point

The hike up to the overlook just beyond the point is fairly short, and not too strenuous, but enough of a workout to be a welcome change from sitting in the car. And the view you're rewarded with at the overlook is well worth the effort. You're looking northwest up the coast of O'ahu to Waimanalo Bay, and beyond, in these shots:

Looking one way along the trail, you see this impressive hillside, complete with parasailor; the other way is the incredibly blue Pacific:

And sometimes you see more than just the ocean. Henry was lucky enough to see some whales, some 200 yards offshore:

Then, there was the very photogenic Makapu'u Lighthouse...
