Glaciers

We visited two glaciers up close and personal during our trip: Exit Glacier near Resurrection Bay, and Portage Glacier on the road between Kenai and Anchorage. The title graphic photo is of Exit Glacier.

Our brief encounter with Exit Glacier took place the night before our boat tour of Kenai Fjords. We were camped near Seward, on Resurrection Bay. All of the Exit Glacier photos below were taken around 10 or 11 at night—a great example of how Alaska's long summer days are wonderful for sightseeing!

We visited Portage Glacier on our way back to Anchorage at the end of our Alaska vacation. We have seen recent photos of this glacier, and it is much diminished. Exit, as well, is probably much smaller now.
