To put the bottom line at the top, if you liked the other Indiana Jones movies, you won't be disappointed with this one.
By the same token, if you despised the others, or even if you just tolerated them, you won't care much for Last Crusade. It is, in most respects, business as usual for Indiana Jones. The basic script could be recycled Raiders.
The big difference with Last Crusade is Sean Connery as Indy's father. What a masterstroke! We get Connery, who, as James Bond, practically invented the use of humor in the face of death-defying adventure and a whole new plot and character angle is opened up, too.
The by-play between father and son makes Last Crusade worth seeing, even for moviegoers who might be put off by the formula-following nature of the movie's script. And though stealing the show from Harrison Ford is pretty difficult, Connery can succeed at it if anyone can.
