We didn't waste any time after arriving in Great Falls, as we took a trip to Glacier, obviously, before the summer was over. The photos on this page (arranged in the order they were taken) were slides in a box dated September, 1955. I have a feeling Dad, at least, was pretty excited about living in proximity to such gorgeous countryside and couldn't wait to get out and see it.
In spite of the fact that it must have been summer when these slides were taken, there still was lots of snow in the high country. I think these might have been taken at Logan Pass. I can't help thinking that it must have been a scary drive for Texans unused to icy roads!
I don't know where these two gorgeous river scenes were taken, but they must have been somewhere in Glacier, since there were more Park shots that followed them in the slide number sequence:
If the pictures above were taken at Logan Pass, we must have come back for a second look on this trip, since these definitely are. The sign in the first one, that you can't read at this resolution, says "Bearhat Mt.," which is near the Pass. The peak in the photo may or may not be this one, though; I can't tell if the sign is referring to it or to another peak off to the left, out of view. But whatever they're called, they're spectacular!
