According to the date on the box of slides containing many of these first photos, Mamaw and at least part of Uncle Arthur's family visited us in June of 1956. We took a trip with them up to Glacier and Waterton Parks. Here are two group shots:

These two priceless pictures of Joan, with Larry and with Mamaw, are from this trip (note waterfalls in the background on the right):
Here is another picture of Joan and Mamaw, possibly at the same stop, taken with another camera:
It wasn't just a day trip, since we have these photos taken at a motel in the mountains:
I remember going over the border into Canada once, but not in connection with this trip to Waterton. However, according to the labels on these slides, I was there! On June 16, 1956, at Waterton Lake, trying to keep little sister and cousin in line.
According to the notes on these slides, they were taken at Logan Pass, one of our favorite scenic stops in Glacier Park, on June 17. I wonder what Mom and I are pointing to, and Mary Jane is exclaiming about?
The first of these pictures from another trip also looks like it was taken at Logan Pass, but in different weather conditions, and with a different set of visitors. The others seem to have been taken on the same trip, elsewhere in Glacier, most likely, a trip that also included a campout:

Mamaw made at least one more trip up to visit us. In the following unfortunately degraded photos Joan and I look a good bit older than in the other pictures on this page (not to mention the blurriness caused by an inexperienced photographer of the one on the right—apparently me!):
We made many trips to Glacier, with visitors and just with our little family, while we lived in Great Falls. I was very happy to be able to see the place again, many years later, with my own children. This photo is from our 1988 trip:
